Equinor
extends
agreement
at
Fjord
Base
by
two
years

Equinor is continuing its collaboration with Saga Fjordbase and the Fjord Base Group. The base agreement has now been signed and extended by a further two years, until July 2027.

“First entered into in 2015, the agreement is extremely important for Saga Fjordbase. Equinor is our largest customer and accounts for a significant share of our activity. Equinor is a highly quality-conscious client, and the contract is visible proof that we deliver services at a high level,” says Erlend Toftesund, CEO of Saga Fjordbase. Altogether, activity at Fjord Base constitutes Kinn’s largest hub of private-sector jobs, where more than 650 people today have secure employment and income.

“The agreement with Equinor contributes to long-term stability and predictability, giving us the basis to expand operations and plan further for the green transition. These plans include, among other things, ammonia bunkering, a hydrogen plant, and future plans for the assembly and marshalling of offshore wind turbines,” says Erlend.

Equinor is the largest customer at Fjord Base and accounts for significant activity at the site. For the Fjord Base Group, Equinor is also an important partner in reducing CO2 emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and, in the longer term, working toward a zero-emissions base.

“We’re pleased that the agreement is in place and look forward to continuing the collaboration and together becoming even better in terms of safety, efficiency, and sustainability,” says Kari Bjørbæk, Acting Head of Supply Operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf at Equinor.

Fjord Base already has shore power at all quays and has also facilitated the use of electric cranes. A year ago, Saga Fjordbase rolled out its in-house developed digital collaboration platform for the terminal and quays. This has increased operational efficiency for customers and their partners.

“For nearly 40 years, Fjord Base has created jobs and value for the entire local community in Florø. This will be noticed, and it’s a seal of quality that we can now announce this contract,” says Ole Schanke Eikum, CEO of the Fjord Base Group, which also includes Fjord Base AS, NCP AS, and FB Support. He adds that in the next contract period they will also launch projects to continue and improve the already very strong results in health, safety, and environment across Fjord Base.
