milestone

Fjord Base Group has published its first-ever sustainability report. This marks an important milestone in our efforts to systematise, document and further develop the Group’s work on climate and environmental matters, HSE, the working environment and social responsibility.

With the report, Fjord Base Group has established a common structure and framework for its future sustainability work. It provides a comprehensive overview of our current efforts while laying the foundation for clearer targets, improved documentation and more systematic follow-up in the years ahead.

– The report gives us a clearer basis for decision-making by highlighting our strengths, identifying areas for improvement and showing which measures could have the greatest impact for Fjord Base, says Ingvild Hovland, Head of HSEQ and the Sustainability Team.

A broad approach to sustainability

Sustainability is about more than reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also includes how Fjord Base Group works with health, safety and the environment, the working environment, diversity, ethics, competence development and responsible corporate governance.

The report shows how these areas are connected to the Group’s strategy and the continued development of the business. It highlights measures that have already been implemented, the challenges the organisation faces and its ambitions for the future.

An important objective has been to gather information from different companies and professional disciplines and present it in a comprehensive and accessible way.

Concrete measures deliver results

Fjord Base Group is working systematically to reduce emissions from its own operations. Electrifying parts of the business is an important measure in this work.

In 2026, we put our second hybrid crane into operation. The crane can run on electricity during cargo operations, reducing both fuel consumption and emissions. This is a concrete example of how new technology and working methods can help reduce the climate footprint of our operations.

The report also describes our efforts to strengthen the HSE culture, ensure a safe and positive working environment and develop new business areas. Our future ambitions include contributing to the development of solutions related to zero-emission fuels for the maritime industry.

A multidisciplinary team behind the report

The sustainability report was prepared by a dedicated Sustainability Team consisting of Ingvild Hovland, Børge Nordal, Marthe Opheim and Lauritz Isaksen.

The team was established to bring together expertise from different parts of the organisation. Ingvild represents the HSEQ discipline, Børge contributes expertise in IT, digitalisation and cybersecurity, while Marthe is responsible for topics related to HR, the working environment, diversity and competence development.

Lauritz is a sustainability trainee and has held professional responsibility for the report, the greenhouse gas inventory and the mapping of the organisation’s climate and environmental footprint. He has also coordinated the work and the collection of information from the different parts of the Group.

– The reporting process has given us a greater understanding of sustainability as a multidisciplinary subject. It has strengthened cooperation across the Group and provided better insight into the organisation’s impacts, risks and data foundation, says Lauritz Isaksen.

A tool for continuous improvement

The sustainability report is not an objective in itself. It is intended to be a practical tool that enables us to monitor developments over time, identify areas for improvement and prioritise the measures that will have the greatest impact.

Fjord Base Group has already implemented a number of measures, but we also recognise that sustainability requires continuous development and improvement.

The results are created through the efforts made across the entire organisation. Using the report as a starting point, Fjord Base Group will continue to strengthen cooperation, share experience and develop clearer targets across companies and professional disciplines.

The first report has set the standard and established the framework. The next step is to follow up the results and continue developing our sustainability work year by year.
