What is offshore wind?
Norway aims to become a leading nation in offshore wind, targeting the allocation of areas for 30 GW of offshore wind production on the Norwegian continental shelf by 2040. A major investment in offshore wind along the Norwegian coast could create new jobs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Aasland, emphasizes the need for close collaboration with the offshore wind industry and other maritime users to achieve these goals.
The Fjord Base Group has ambitions to become a key provider of services for offshore wind development in the North Sea. We aim to play a role in storage, assembly of floaters, and turbine integration.
Ancala Partners’ majority stake in the Fjord Base Group provides us with the financial strength to further develop within the green transition, especially in the offshore wind sector.
At Fjord Base, we have been engaged in logistics and industrial development since 1985 and are among the best in our fields. We conduct around 75,000 lifting operations annually. Florø’s strategic location, with proximity to an airport and daily flights to Bergen and Oslo, enhances our logistical advantages. Fjord Base has nine quays, accommodating over 2,000 ship calls and 5,000 trailers each year, making us an excellent choice for new, green industries.
We can provide interim storage for various types of equipment and components, including jackets, monopiles, floaters, turbines, cables and anchoring equipment at Fjord Base.
Currently, we have 100 to 150 decares of available space ready at short notice
We have approximately 350 decares of land that can be prepared in a short time, along with large areas for wet storage of floaters at Fjord Base. In collaboration with Dr.techn. Olav Olsen, we are working on a FEED study to optimize the area for offshore wind.
We are planning turbine integration at Naustholmen, where we have approximately 100 decares of available land. Together with Dr.techn. Olav Olsen, we are conducting a FEED study to optimize the area for offshore wind.
We have several areas at Fjord Base that are well-suited for handling and storing cables and anchoring equipment for floating offshore wind turbines.

Our markets
The Fjord Base Group is actively preparing areas at the base for offshore wind activities. We plan to have 1–2 operational quays at Naustholmen by 2027, with 100 decares of associated backland. This will enable us to handle various assignments, including interim storage, demonstration projects, and other large-scale projects.
By 2030, we aim to deliver full-scale production of up to 500 MW, with an ambition to expand to an additional 500 MW by 2035.
The British sector is far ahead in offshore wind development, with ambitions of 50 GW by 2030. Fjord Base can provide areas for the intermediate storage of equipment such as jackets and monopiles for fixed-bottom turbines. We can also support the assembly of floaters for floating turbines.
In 2026-2027, we can provide the necessary area with supporting infrastructure, buildings, quays, and cranes for demonstration projects and rig electrification.
Utsira Nord is Norway's first floating offshore wind competition, expected to be announced in 2025. We have clear ambitions to participate in the development and can assist with various services, including intermediate storage, assembly of floaters, cables, anchoring, prefabrication, and more.
The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has identified 20 offshore areas along the Norwegian coast as potential sites for offshore wind development. Initially, Vestavind F, Sørvest F, and Vestavind were proposed for assessment and potential opening in 2025.
NVE now plans to evaluate the remaining 17 areas by the summer of 2025, after which a new assessment regarding their opening will be conducted.
NVE
Fjord Base is strategically located in relation to Vestavind A and B. Our ambition is to provide full-scale services for offshore wind to both fields.
