A
versatile
HSE
department

Focus on HSE (health, safety, and environment), along with the two extra letters SQ (security and quality), is the top priority across all of Fjord Base. It is our license to operate and something we work on in a structured, continuous way every single day.

That’s why we provide our employees with the necessary training and competencies to meet potential challenges. Due to COVID-19, it’s been a busy season for first-aid training with a lot to catch up on. We have a versatile HSE department with the required first-aid expertise in-house.

Industrial Emergency Response for 65 different companies

The Industrial Emergency Response team (Industrivernet) is our first line of response should incidents occur, and it consists of members from across the companies on the base. Led by Marthe Fiskarbekk Opheim, they ensure that all 675 employees at Fjord Base have a safe and secure workday.

In May, it was time for another exciting drill. It’s important for the Industrial Emergency Response team to make exercises as realistic as possible so we’re prepared if a real situation should arise. This time, the exercise took place at Halliburton, and with real role players and realistic scenarios, it proved highly instructive. We also receive professional support from the local fire service. They always show up and contribute to the exercises.

“In the Industrial Emergency Response team, we depend on one another, and good coordination is needed to bring out the best in each other. That’s why these exercises are extremely useful and educational!” – Marthe Opheim, Head of the Industrial Emergency Response team
