Logistics and operations

Our
industry-leading
logistics

It may look like one of Fjord Base’s usual gray buildings. But for us, Building 75 is much more than that. This is, after all, the building we call the Logistics Center of Excellence. Here we’ve rolled out one of the market’s best logistics models, and the facility is in full operation. We are the hub between the mainland and the Continental Shelf in the North Sea. At this site, we handle all internal logistics at Fjord Base and control everything that goes over the quay. We also assist operators with exploration wells and drilling campaigns. At the same time, we function as a shared warehouse. Our unique logistics model is role-based. Our customers interface with a designated role—not a designated person. This makes us less vulnerable and far more cost‑effective.

One stop shop

At Saga Fjordbase, we operate as a “one stop shop” for all customers. It’s no coincidence that the major companies in the oil industry choose Fjord Base as a reliable partner. Over several decades, together with our customers and suppliers, we’ve built knowledge and expertise on how to best facilitate logistics and operations.

On behalf of TIOS, I would like to thank you for outstanding support during our demobilization for Wintershall. The agility you demonstrate makes mobilization and demobilization a breeze. I know I speak for everyone on board—both logistics and operational personnel. – Thor H. Brende. TIOS is the owner of Island Constructor and contracted to Wintershall Dea.

State-of-the-art and digitalized

Day-to-day operations are state-of-the-art and digitalized. With the improvement team’s digital collaboration platform, Saga Connect, we are more efficient and sustainable than ever. Saga Connect was launched at the ONS oil fair in Stavanger in 2022 and has so far exceeded expectations. Now we, our customers, and suppliers collaborate in a completely new way. In real time, everyone gets the same information, replacing countless emails, Excel sheets, and phone calls. It’s simple, standardized, and transparent. After one year in operation, Saga Connect includes 26 different companies and over 140 unique users. A total of 2,560 operations have flowed seamlessly through the system. This has given vessels 26% shorter time at berth and a reduction of 24.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions—per month! In addition, the workflow and collaboration between the various companies at Fjord Base have improved significantly.

All the way at the eastern end of Fjord Base is SAR. SAR is a leading global waste management partner and, with its 30 employees in Florø, ensures that the reception and handling of waste are well taken care of. They’ve been part of the Saga Connect club since the start. At SAR, Normann Swensen says the system works well, is user-friendly, and offers major benefits for all stakeholders.
